Julia Patrick has been selected as the salutatorian of the Plymouth High School class of 2019. Julia is the daughter of Paul and Laura Patrick. She graduates with a GPA of 4.135, and she will be receiving an Academic Honors Diploma this evening.
Last month Patrick was inducted into the Plymouth High School Academic Hall of Fame based on her achievements in mathematics. She leaves Plymouth High School having earned 25 college credits.
While a student at Plymouth High School, Patrick was active all four years in student government. She served as a member of student council her freshman year, both her sophomore and junior year as a class officer, and this year she served as the senior class vice president.
Patrick was a four-year member of the Leaders Eliminating Alcohol and Drugs Club and led the LEAD Club this year as the club’s president. She was a member of the PHS Art Club during her sophomore through senior year. This year she was the club’s president. Patrick served the PHS Key Club for the past four years, and this year she held the role of vice president. She was actively involved in PHS Business Professionals of America and served this year as the club’s treasurer. Patrick was a three-year member of the PHS Spanish Club, during her junior year she served as vice president and for the past three years, she has been a proud member of the PHS National Honor Society.
She was a cheerleader during her freshman through junior years at PHS, a member of the tennis team during both her sophomore and junior years, and she ran track for the Pilgrims during her senior year.
In Patrick’s spare time outside of school, she has a passion for ballet, and for the past four years, she has enjoyed teaching ballet to children in the Plymouth and surrounding areas.
Patrick is one of 200 graduating seniors from across the country to receive the new $10,000 renewable Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship. This fall she will be attending the University of Michigan where she plans to major in computer science. Following her college graduation, Patrick hopes to become a software engineer.
“I would like to thank Miss Haley Church, for all she has done for Plymouth High School and myself. Miss Church is the reason I worked so hard the past four years, and she makes me happier every single day. Miss Church, you have done more for me than you will ever know, thank you,” said Patrick.
