PLYMOUTH — Plymouth wrestler Graham Calhoun has made it official that he will be continuing his education at the University of Wisconsin as part of their wrestling team.

During his first three years of wrestling for the Rockies, Graham has a career record of 129-9. He is 9-0 so far this year. He has qualified for the State Finals for three consecutive years. He finished 7th in the state as a freshman and 5th in the state his junior year.
Several schools, including Ohio State, were in consideration by Calhoun until he caught the eye of the Badger coaching staff.
“Wisconsin wasn’t on the radar until we went to a tournament in North Carolina and they were scouting the other gentleman we wrestled,” said Plymouth wrestling coach Bob Read. “He was a quality kid who was ranked third in the nation at the time and they saw how aggressive (Graham) was with him and how physical he was and it just fits their program.”
“With the coaching staff that they have and what they are doing with the program I think that he’s going to be a very good fit,” said Read.
“It was different than anything else,” Calhoun said of his recruiting visit to his new school, “I took an official visit to Ohio State too but the family atmosphere (at Wisconsin) was second to none, I fell in love with the coaching staff. I think they are one of the best in the country. They showed a lot of faith in me and believe that they can help me achieve the goals that I have.”
Graham is the son of Jim and Cammie Calhoun. Graham plans to major in Business. He is currently ranked 63rd in his class of 231 students. He has a GPA of 3.41.
“I chose business because I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do when I graduate,” said Calhoun. “I know that I want to run my own wrestling academy eventually.”
“I’m excited,” he said. “I’m going in with high expectations for myself. I have really big goals. I want to be an NCAA national champion.”
