Riverside_logoRiverside Intermediate 53510A Rocket Fuel Robotics is gearing up for the state robotics competition and has been practicing their robotic strategies even more than ever since February 2. That’s when the team made up of two sixth grade, and three fifth grade students were awarded prestigious recognition at the Vex IQ Robotics Tournament held at Plymouth High School.

The 53510A Rocket Fuel Robotics team received the Elementary School Excellence Award (VIQC), which automatically qualifies them for the Vex IQ Robotics State competition at Lucas Oil Stadium on March 9, and the 2019 CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship – VEX IQ – Middle School Division April 1-3.

Laurie Wandland, an Interventionist at Riverside and the robotics team sponsor, said that at this point the robotics students are focusing their efforts for the state competition that will be held on the second Saturday in March.

Team members who make up 53510A Rocket Fuel Robotics team are Joseph Stauffer (6), Cole Figg (6), Freddy Kallenberg (5), John Klinedinst (5), and Chance Miller (5).

In all Wandland said Riverside had three groups of student participated in this year’s Vex IQ competition at PHS, 53510A, 53510B, and 53510C. “Our robotics students have been actively preparing for this event since VEX IQ summer camps back in June and have continued to work throughout the school year.”

Riverside Intermediate School principal Kyle Coffman said he’s very proud of the efforts and accomplishments of all Riverside robotics students and he looks forward to 53510A Rocket Fuel Robotics team competing at the upcoming VEX State Championship this March.
