Sand Hill Farm is a Regional Cities funded project that served as the cornerstone for Culver’s Stellar Designation. The project will advance quality of life and provide vital workforce housing to support the town’s largest employers. Sand Hill Farm has its roots in Culver’s comprehensive plan with the goal of transforming the community to support residents with ample year round housing options. To celebrate the completion of this development, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, June 20th at 4 pm at 511 Cavalier Drive.
Sand Hill Farm is supported by $270,000 in Regional Cities funding. The town and Culver Redevelopment Commission also contributed approximately $350,000 in funding to support public infrastructure including street, water, sewer, and storm work. Cabinetry and other plumbing fixtures for the apartments were provided by acpi Wood Products (formerly Elkay Wood Products), and installed by local employees, as a show of support for the development from one of its largest employers. The 24-unit complex includes a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments and provides 12-month leases at market rates near neighborhood parks and downtown Culver.
The development offers support to significant area employers: Culver Academies, acpi Wood Products, and Culver Public Schools. As these operations have continued to grow, the need for year-round workforce housing has increased. Culver has responded to this need by developing innovative housing solutions such as Sand Hill Farm, which was created to attract residents, grow the population, and allow more people to live and work in Culver.
According to Culver Town Manager, Jonathan Leist, “We are thrilled to see this first phase of our housing initiative completed and ready for new residents to move in and become a part of our community. So many citizens, local leaders, and staff poured in a lot of time and energy to make this dream a reality for our community. Today, we want to recognize that effort and celebrate the tremendous outcome.”
