Semi Driver Arrested after Striking the Traffic Light Pole at Michigan & Jefferson

The red flashing light at the intersection of Michigan Street/SR17 and Jefferson Street was caused by a semi driver that was arrested following the incident.

On Thursday, March 28, just after 10 PM Officer Arnold with the Plymouth Police Department responded to the report of a semi tractor trailer that had crashed into the traffic signal pole at the northwest corner of Michigan and Jefferson Street.  The semi fled the scene westbound on West Jefferson Street.   Officer Arnold located the semi attempting to turn around in the parking lot of 615 W. Jefferson St. As the semi turning around in the parking lot it, struck a building.

The driver of the semi, 38 year old Nicole Diallo of New Orleans was arrested for Operating While Intoxicate endangerment, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Disorderly Conduct.

Ms. Diallo was incarcerated at the Marshall County Jail on a $4,500 cash bond.

 

UPDATE:    Adam Parkhouse, Media Relations Director said, ” There was a good amount of damage that was caused by this, so there’s fairly substantial work that needs to be done to get the lights operational. We have to redo the foundation, etc., to get it ready to go live again. We’re anticipating the signal could be operational by the end of the week.”

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
