Walorski_officialU.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) Monday released the following statement on a federal judge’s decision to allow an abortion clinic to open in South Bend without a license from the Indiana State Department of Health:

“Every human life is precious and deserves our protection. The Indiana State Department of Health was right to deny the application of an abortion provider with a deeply troubling history to operate a clinic in South Bend. This outrageous ruling by a federal judge to allow the abortion clinic to open without a license puts the health of Hoosier women and the lives of unborn children at risk.”

BACKGROUND

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) previously denied the Whole Woman’s Health Alliance application for a license to open an abortion clinic in South Bend. A federal judge last week issued a preliminary injunction to allow the clinic to operate despite the denial. In October 2017, Walorski sent a letter to the State Health Commissioner urging ISDH to deny the application. A copy of the letter is available here.

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.
