Senator Todd Young 1-5-18U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) Tuesday spoke about the humanitarian crisis on our southern border and the need to quickly pass an emergency funding package.

“The New York Times recently wrote of the humanitarian crisis at our southern border, ‘It’s time for Congress to stop dithering and pass emergency funding to deal with this nightmare.’ They’re right,” said Senator Young. “This is absolutely unacceptable. We must deal with this in a timely fashion.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Monday that the Senate will vote on an additional appropriations bill to deal with the influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border before the Fourth of July recess. President Trump had requested $4.5 billion for border assistance, including $3.3 billion for humanitarian aid. A recent New York Times editorial called on Congress to pass this emergency funding “to deal with this nightmare.”
