U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) Tuesday voted to protect Hoosiers from the devastating costs of the harmful Green New Deal. The so-called “deal” is projected to cost up to $93 trillion over 10 years, and up to $65,000 per household per year.
“Today, Democrats had a chance to vote for one of their top priorities – the unreasonable, unattainable, and unaffordable Green New Deal,” said Senator Young. “It is a bad deal for Hoosier farmers, families, and manufacturers, and it would devastate our way of life, which is why I voted against this job-killing plan.”
“What we should be focused on is legislation like the USE IT Act that would promote carbon capture research and development. This is an area of common ground for Republicans and Democrats, and I’m hopeful that moving forward we can work together to find commonsense solutions,” Senator Young added.
Senator Young has been outspoken on the consequences of the Green New Deal in Indiana. Rather than supporting this unrealistic plan, Senator Young believes we should turn our focus to investing in nuclear energy, and carbon capture and storage technologies that would make America’s energy as clean as possible without eliminating baseload fuels.
