Ounce of Prevention Feb 2020 DonationThe Foundation of Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS) received a $3,000 donation from the Ounce of Prevention organization in Plymouth to help fund the nurse navigator position at SJHS Plymouth Medical Center.

Breast cancer presents a variety of challenges to a patient and their family. To assist them through the treatment process SJHS offers the support of a nurse navigator. The nurse navigator provides unparalleled compassion and understanding to patients and their families during screening, diagnosis, and treatment. They serve as the patient’s advocate and educator to ensure the patient receives the support and knowledge they need to navigate the health care system.

“The need to provide a nurse navigator to support our growing patient base is immense,” said Eileen Toney, director of philanthropy business operations at the Foundation of SJHS. “We are honored that Ounce of Prevention continues to partner with us to provide this service that is not covered under insurance plans.”
