April VerchMulti-talented and internationally recognized musician, April Verch, is spotlighted in Wild Rose Moon’s latest addition of the interview/performance program, To the Moon and Back. During the program, child prodigy and now twenty year performing veteran, April Verch, discusses the importance of performing and sharing her love of step-dancing in area schools. April’s face lights up during the program as she talks, “Children today may not own a CD. They get their music off their phones, off the web. They don’t often get to see live music in action—in front of them—when they actually see it up front and close it can make a difference in their lives. I always figure if we can just meet the needs of just one child, we’ve accomplished something good.” April’s enthusiasm for performing shows up in every one of her performances captured in the program as bass player and banjoist, Cody Walters, and Korey Brodsky, playing lead guitar and mandolin, contribute energetically to the mix.

The program, produced and edited by Jim Yocom, Wild Rose Moon’s production supervisor, features an amalgam of her performances on both the top and bottom sound stages of Wild Rose Moon, as well as footage of her dancing at the Bremen schools. Along the way she discusses early memories of her first fiddle and step dance teachers, her deep respect for old fiddle tunes and their styles, her experience performing in Vienna, Austria, and the special nature of her relationship with the band and her audiences. It’s a fun theatrical show with dancing, music, and a remarkable conversation with this phenomenal international talent. You can catch it on Cable in St. Joseph County, Channel 44, or on YouTube by going to www.wildrosemoon.com . The program has been made possible by Marshall County Community Foundation and Xi Iota Psi of Bremen, Indiana.
