On Wednesday, January 22nd at approximately 8:20 A.M. the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department was contacted in reference to a battery that had occurred at Lapaz Iron & Metal. Upon arrival Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Rans was informed that the suspect 32 year old, Vincent Stephen Carnegie of Plymouth had left the scene and was possibly on his way to South Bend. Mr. Carnegie was later located in South Bend and taken into custody. He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Battery and held on a $255 bond and was issued a Superior 2 court date of February 11, 2020. Mr. Carnegie was released that day after posting bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
