County BuildingThe Marshall County Council will hold their first meeting of the new year at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 13th in the second floor meeting room of the County Building.

The meeting will begin with the reorganization of the board followed by any public input.

A public hearing will be held on the second reading of the Jail Expansion Project including second reading of the Jail Project General Obligation Bond. There is also a public hearing on an additional appropriation ordinance.

Sheriff Matt Hassel will present his 2020 contract for services.  The commissioners signed the contract at their meeting last week.

Other agenda items for the County Council include Jason Peters from the County Highway with a request for additional funds to complete North Michigan Road from the round-a-bout all the way to 3rd Road.  Peters wants to use this year’s Community Crossing grant funds but the entire project would need the $300,000 local match and an additional $400,000.

Ann Anglin, the new Human Resources Administrator will present a job description and Doug Masterson from Buildings and Grounds is seeking a waiver of probationary pay for John Yeazel.

County Commissioner Stan Klotz will discuss a vehicle purchase and he will also bring up the Telamon contract which hadn’t been completed in the allotted time frame.

County Council members will consider additional appropriation and transfer requests and hear the Auditor’s report.  They also will consider an ordinance amending the 2020 Salary ordinance for WIC and probation. The final items on the agenda is Liaison and Board Appointments.

The County Council meeting is open to the public although comments and questions are limited to one of the first orders of business.
