Boys&GirlsClub_Culver logoBill Githens, Treasurer of the Culver Boys and Girls Club attended last Monday’s Marshall County Commissioner’s meeting to personally thank them for their annual contribution to the organization and seek the funding that hasn’t been sent to the club yet this year.

Githens presented a letter from Dana Neer, President of the Culver Boys and Girls Club that said, the funds, $6,000 from the county combined with many other grants and donations has “made an enormous difference as we continue to fulfill one of our key promises to the youth of our community…Great futures do indeed start here!”  The club delivers exciting and educational programs to the over 200 boys and girls who attend the Culver club.

Commissioner Kevin Overmyer asked why the county waited until the end of the year to distribute the funds to the club.

Githens said it was “probably a snafu on our part.  It just fell through the cracks and was brought up at our last board meeting and after checking realized it hadn’t be sought by the club.”

The funds will be approved at the final meeting of the year on December 31st.
