Encouraging Protective Measures With Doubling Positive Cases Of Covid-19

May 29, 2020
By

Marshall County Health Department logoThe amount of positive COVID-19 cases has nearly doubled in Marshall County over the span of one week. Many of you may have also seen the article in the New York Times, where nearby Elkhart County is 10th in the nation for being the next possible COVID-19 outbreak area. The issue we are seeing is that as businesses open up and people are out and about, we see an increase in positive cases. To combat becoming one of the next outbreak locations, we need to continue to remind you and others that you need to wash your hands often, avoid close contact, cover your mouth and nose with a face cover when around others, cover your coughs and sneezes, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and monitor your symptoms.
Nothing Beats 6 Feet – Social Distancing
Your actions do affect others, especially those that are 65 and older. Please take precautions for yourself and others. Your community thanks you!
As we have said many times and will continue to say, the best way to protect yourself from any respiratory illness, including COVID-19 is to:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with 60% or higher alcohol.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Practice social distancing.
• Stay home where possible.
• Cover your cough
or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
