PHS_Dec. 2019 PHS Students of the MonthThe following students were chosen as the PHS First Federal Savings Bank Students of the Month of December: senior Graci Holm, juniors Nicholas Dean and Kayleigh Einspahr, sophomore Mackenzie Edstrom, and freshman Alex DeJarnatt.

Senior Graci Holm was nominated by her art teacher Haley Church. Church nominated Graci for her willingness to mentor and help classmates with academic content, and her exemplary behavior or actions. Church said, “Graci puts her heart and effort into everything she does. Her projects and academic work always reflect this. She is a great help to classmates in the art department and is worthy of recognition.”

Junior Nicholas Dean was nominated by his Career Marketing teacher Judi Lykowski for being courteous, using kind language, being helpful to others, showing respect, his honesty and caring for belongings in the classroom. Lykowski said, “Nick has a relentless work ethic. He is a first-semester student in career marketing and he gives his all to every project he has done this entire year. I have full confidence when I give Nick an assignment, he is going to do his best. He is not afraid to ask questions if he needs clarification. Nick has attended every PCSC school board meeting this school year to represent our entire class for the work we have been doing for the corporation’s Focus on Learning monthly reports. The reports this year are told via video and my students and I produce a 5-6 minute videos that showcase a different school each month. I am proud to have a student like Nick in my class and look forward to having him in my class next semester! Thank you, Nick, for your dedication.”

Junior Kayleigh Einspahr was nominated by PHS guidance department secretary Keshena Hunter for her willingness to volunteer and give tours to our incoming freshmen students. Hunter said, “Kayleigh is always willing to give new students tours. She is always pleasant and has a big smile on her face. She makes everyone feel welcome. The guidance department knows we can count on Kayleigh! Thank you, Kayleigh!”

Sophomore Mackenzie Edstrom was nominated by PHS family and consumer science teacher Debra Nifong for being courteous, helpful to others, showing respect, for mentoring/helping classmates with academic content, and her exemplary behavior or actions. Nifong said, “Mackenzie is enthusiastic about helping others in our child development class, she has strong participation, she is honest, she leads class discussions and is excellent in every way.”

Freshman Alex DeJarnatt was nominated by his PHS Biology teacher Lori McClellan for being courteous, using kind language, being helpful to others, showing respect, being honest, mentoring/helping classmates with academic content, and exemplary behavior or actions. McClellan said, “Alex is a highly intelligent young man who also helps others understand. He has been one of the highest achieving students throughout this semester in Biology. He keeps me on my toes in a very respectful manner. I am grateful to have him in my class because I can count on him doing what needs to be done and helping others complete their work.”

 

First Federal Savings Bank generously donates $10 for each recipient. Plymouth High School uses the funds to purchase a gift card for each recipient at a restaurant of his/her choice. Plymouth High School would like to thank First Federal Savings Bank for sponsoring the Students of the Month award the entire school year.
