Lady Dragons grab conference title with win
GOSHEN – The Argos Lady Dragons traveled to Bethany Christian Friday night in the final game of the season for a conference showdown and came away with a win and the title 2-1.
The Dragons would be the first to strike in the 33rd minute when Lilly Hines would send a cross to Madisyn Barcus for a goal.
Bethany Christian would score on a counter in the 39th minute to tie the game up 1-1 with just seconds to spare in the half.
Both teams would go back in forth getting attempts, but the Dragons would keep the ball in the Bruins half the majority time, but it wouldn’t be enough.
The girls would move into overtime going scoreless through the third period.
Aryanna Allen would find the back of the net for the Dragons in the 89th minute, scoring what would become the game-winning goal.
The win secured the conference title for the Dragons who finish the regular season at 10-4, 4-0 in one conference 3-1 in another.
Argos faces Culver Community in the sectional quarterfinal matchup at Newton Park on Oct. 6 with kickoff at 5 p.m.
