Lady Lancers get HNAC win
LAKEVILLE, IN. – Allison Medors scored 11 points and hauled down 12 rebounds to lead the varsity girl’s basketball team to a 34-25 Hoosier North Athletic Conference victory over Culver Community Saturday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
Medors was crucial as the junior post player scored 10 of LaVille’s 17 second-half points.
The Lancer defense was stingy for most of the game, allowing the Cavaliers not more than five points in a quarter three times.
The 3-point shooting of Madelyn Fuchs and Kassi Watts helped spark a 12-point second quarter as LaVille opened a 17-8 halftime lead.
Culver did mount a late-game comeback outscoring LaVille 15-11 in the final quarter, but a 7-of-10 effort from the free-throw line in the final quarter proved the difference.
Medors was 4-of-4 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line to lead the Lancer offense. The duo of Medors and Trynitie Cox was dominant on the boards, combining for 24 rebounds – 12 each.
LaVille finished the regular season 2-20 overall and 1-6 in HNAC play.
The Lancers will open the IHSAA Class 2A state tournament against Westview (4-18) at Fairfield on Friday, February 7.
