LaVille takes first round win
LAKEVILLE, IN. – The junior varsity girl’s basketball team overcame a slow start to pick up a 44-16 victory in the first round of the TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament Monday.
LaVille hit just one field goal and two free throws through the first seven minutes of play to open a 5-2 lead. The team began to relax and the offense started to pick up as four LaVille players got in the scoring column as the Lakeville hosts opened a 22-7 and never looked back to advance to the semifinal round Wednesday against John Glenn.
Faith Rock led a balanced offensive attack with 12 points. Lauren Edison followed with nine points, Lauren Dove eight, and Quincy Blodgett chipped in with seven points.
Blodgett picked up seven steals and led the rebounding effort with 10. Faith Rock added nine rebounds, Lauren Dove and Allison Giles had four boards each, Allison Giles chipped in four steals, and Rebekah Beehler had four assists.
The Lancer JV improves to 12-5 overall and will face John Glenn in the semifinal round of the 55th Annual TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament Wednesday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m. inside Dale E. Cox Gymnasium.
