Deaton_Clemens_VanGilderFuneralHome2-2019 (1)Leon married Doris May Livinghouse on September 28, 1952 and celebrated 67 years of marriage. They had three children; Susan Dickson, David & Sharon (Anderson) Dickson of Bloomington, and Patricia Dickson of Marion. Leon’s sister, Phyllis Cartwright, also currently resides in Plymouth. Leon was preceded in death by his loving wife and his oldest daughter Susan.

Leon worked for thirty years at a local florist shop in Plymouth. His love of plants and flowers helped him develop his special talent of making corsages, centerpieces, and developing beautiful arrangements of flowers which were on display at many weddings and funerals around Plymouth. Leon was an avid gardener at home, growing vegetables each season as well as maintaining a beautiful lawn, complete with cherry, peach, and apricot trees. His hobbies also included card clubs, bowling, woodworking, and being scout master for a time for local cub scouts.

His family welcomes you to share memories of Leon this Saturday, May 30, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home, located at 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Kristin Harp officiating. Burial will follow at New Oak Hill Cemetery. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, it is asked that you please wear a face mask and follow social distance guidelines during the services. Your cooperation is appreciated.

The family requests memorial gifts in lieu of flowers be given in Leon’s memory to the Marshall County Humane Society (P.O. Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563).
