Broadband grantThe Indiana Economic Development Corporation named Marshall County a Broadband Ready Community in a Jan. 17th, 2020 letter to Kevin Overmyer, Marshall County Commissioners President. Mark Wasky, Vice President Innovation & Strategic Initiatives, Policy with IEDC said, “Becoming certified as a Broadband Ready Community sends a signal to the telecommunications industry that Marshall County has taken steps to reduce barriers to broadband infrastructure investment.”

In order to be named a Broadband Ready Community, officials have established a permit procedure in compliance with several statutory requirements. A single point of contact for broadband projects, guarantee that all applications will be reviewed within ten days and authorization for all documentation related to a project be filed and signed by electronic means are just a couple of the requirements.

This certification is the result of the leadership shown by County Council President Judy Stone, Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist and Overmyer. “These three have spearheaded this project and worked hard to make this possible. Another accolade for the Marshall County community,” said Jerry Chavez, MCEDC President/CEO. “This is an example of the business-friendly policies that Marshall County has put in place to improve the quality of life for all residents.”
