On Tuesday, October 20th at 8:07 A.M. Deputy Hafke with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash in the area of 4A and US 31 in the southbound lane.
Upon arriving to the scene Deputy Hafke located a gold Oldsmobile Bravada. According to scanner traffic the Bravada left the roadway and rolled several times. Medflight was requested but stated they were grounded due to weather.
The driver of the vehicle and only occupant was identified as 44 year old, Shawn Swartz of South Bend. Mr. Swartz was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Witnesses of the crash described the vehicle as being all over the roadway from US 20 prior to the crash.
The Marshall County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
