Miller's_Barn Quilt buffet Cori Humes Feb 2020Visitors and residents enjoyed and buffet of some great “down-home” cooking last Thursday at Miller’s Senior Living Community.   Dubbed the “Barn Quilt Buffet” they served BBQ Spare Ribs, Old Fashioned Fried Chicken, New Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Dinner Rolls, Peach cobbler and Apple Crisp. 

Miller's_Barn Quilt buffet Dorothy and Volunteers Feb 2020Following the delicious meal Cori Humes of the Marshall County Tourism Office spoke about the Marshall County Barn Quilt Tour.  She talked about the various sizes and prices of the barn quilts, how the tour is divided into four easily manageable sections to tour and also told about the different quilt patterns and how these patterns, drawn in the dirt or scratched into a fence post helped the slaves escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad. 

Miller's_Barn Quilt Buffet Quilts Feb 2020It was a very interesting seminar and the audience members asked many questions.  During the event Volunteer Sharon Duff and Activity Director Cindy Flagg had several of their personal quilts on display for all to see.
