PHS girls swimmers place at NLC meet
MIDDLEBURY — Plymouth competed in the NLC Championship meet on Saturday and had a great showing.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Graci Holm, Rachel Jacobs, Marley Houin, and Summer South finished in 6th place with a time of 2:03.97.
Rachel Jacobs turned right around and swam in the 200 Free with a strong time of 2:17.61 slotting herself as 13th in the conference. Raven Gritton also swam in the event getting a lifetime best time of 2:25.60 and 16th place.
Other finishers:
200 IM — Graci Holm swam a 2:31.61 and finished in 10th place.
50 Free — Marley Houin and Summer South both earned points in the 50. Marley swam a 27.64 for 12th place, and Summer swam a 28.66 for a best time and 15th place.
100 Fly — Marley Houin competed well in the 100 Fly placing 11th in the event and swimming one of her best times of the season at 1:09.62.100 Breast — Rachel Jacobs and Lizzy Bacon both swam well in the final individual event of the day. Rachel finished in 12th place, swimming a 1:20.16. Lizzy had a best time of 1:22.66 despite being called for a false start.
In Diving, Claudia Marohn and Maggie Bradway both advanced to compete in 11 dives. Maggie finished with a score of 245.75 and a 14th place finish. Claudia had the high Plymouth placement in the meet earning a 7th place finish with a score of 336.70.
The 500 Free was an exciting event for Raven Gritton, as she crushed her end of season goal and beat 6 minutes 30 seconds. She swam a lifetime best time – 6:25.87 and earned a 13th place finish.
In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Sarah Youngs, Avery Christy, Raven Gritton, and Lizzy Bacon all swam best times and broke 2 minutes! A big goal for all swimmers is to break 30 seconds. Avery, Raven, and Lizzy all achieved that accomplishment this season and proved it again on Saturday. Sarah swam her lifetime best split of 30.79. In the midst of that, they also jumped up a spot from Thursday’s Prelims, earning a 7th place finish.
In the 100 Back Graci Holm earned her second 10th place finish of the day swimming a 1:07.63. She finished the day as the top point earner for Plymouth, being a part of 68 points out of the team total 136.
Her performance and positive character earned her the recognition of All Conference Honorable Mention in one of the toughest swimming conferences in the State.
The 400 Freestyle relay team of Summer South, Marley Houin, Rachel Jacobs, and Graci Holm switched up the order from Thursday and swam another best time of 4:09.59. Summer was a strong lead off leg swimming a 1:05.22. Marley Houin followed with a best time this season at 1:01.10. Rachel also had a best time split swimming a 1:02.28. Graci Holm proved to be a strong anchor once again, swimming a 1:00.99 and bringing home the best time of the season and a 5th place finish.
Plymouth ended the Conference Meet with a 6th place finish in the Conference. A notable accomplishment was having a Plymouth swimmer qualify and compete in each event in the Championships. They hope to carry that momentum into Sectionals in 3 weeks.
The Lady Pilgrims have 2 remaining home meets on Thursday they host Culver Academies and next Monday they will host Tippy Valley for their Senior Night.
