Plymouth girls fifth in sectional final

WARSAW — Plymouth wrapped up their season on Saturday at the Sectional Finals in Warsaw.
Starting the day with the medley relay Plymouth jumped up a spot from prelims to beat Columbia City and finish 3rd overall. Each girl swam a best time and the final time was 1:59.99 from Graci Holm, Rachel Jacobs, Marley Houin, Summer South.
Rachel Jacobs turned right around and swam in the next event, the 200 Freestyle. She finished in 4th in the Consolation heat and 12th overall with a time of 2:19.84.
In the 200 IM, Graci Holm swam a lifetime best time of 2:25.03 and finished in 6th place in the Finals.
Summer South qualified for Consolation Finals in the 50 Free and swam a 28.33 slotting her as 7th in her heat and 15th overall. Marley Houin swam a lifetime best time in the Finals of the 50 Free to secure 8th place with a time of 26:82.
After the 50 Free, Maggie Bradway represented the Pilgrims in the Diving well. Maggie had a fantastic score of 291.10 to put her in 5th place.
Marley jumped back in the pool for the 100 fly where she again swam a lifetime best time. Her final time was 1:04.69 which earned her 5th place.
In the 100 Free, Summer South swam a best time of 1:04.13 earning 5th in the Consolation heat and 13th overall.
Raven competed in the 500 Free in the Consolation heat and finished in 15th place overall. Her season-ending time was 6:28.94.
The 200 Free Relay team crushed their season-best time by 2 seconds to earn 8th place on the day with a time of 1:57.41. Lizzy Bacon had the fastest split with a 28.61.
Lucy Keirn swam another lifetime best time in the 100 back by getting under 1:15 for the first time this season. She finished 5th in her heat and 13th overall.
Graci Holm then took to the pool for her final individual event of her career. Battling back and forth with a swimmer from Columbia City, Graci swam a career-best time and earned a 2nd place finish. Her time of 1:04.11 and the 2nd place finish is the highest Plymouth finish in the last 9 years from a girl swimmer.
Rachel Jacobs reentered the pool for the 100 Breaststroke Consolation Heat and swam a best time. She finished 2nd in her heat and 10th overall with a time of 1:18.79. Lizzy Bacon then dove in for her chance at the 100 breaststroke and did not disappoint. Lizzy swam a lifetime best time and moved up a spot to finish 7th overall with a time of 1:18.83.
The meet ended with another exciting relay pitting Plymouth against Columbia City. Plymouth emerged as the victors as they swam a lifetime best time and out-touched Columbia City for a 4th place finish overall. Highlights include Marley Houin breaking 1 minute for the first time in her swim career. Rachel Jacobs also swam a career-best split of 1:01.82. Graci Holm dove in trailing the Columbia City anchor but she was able to surpass their top swimmer and swam 3.5 seconds faster than her to secure the victory for Plymouth. The relay time was again one of the best in the last 9 years for a time of 4:03.21.
Overall, Plymouth finished in 5th place for the highest finish in the last 9 years.
