Plymouth Community SchoolsThe Plymouth School board held a regular monthly meeting, teacher compensation public hearing, and a budget workshop on Tuesday, September 1.  Audience members could attend the meeting in person or access by telephone conferencing due to restrictions being imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The board discussed the annual Teacher Appreciation Grant distribution for funds from the state based on enrollment. The enrollment is verified by an official count day in September. To be given a percentage of the grant monies, teachers must be licensed and meet the following criteria: Employed in the classroom (including providing instruction is a virtual classroom setting); rated effective or highly effective on their most recent performance evaluation; and employed by the corporation as of December 1 of the year in which the teacher appreciation funds are received by the corporation.

A cash stipend determined by the superintendent is distributed to all teachers in the corporation who are rated effective and a stipend that is twenty-five percent more is distributed to teachers rated highly effective.

The board tabled the final vote until a meeting scheduled for September 14.
