The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern area of Marshall County (north of U.S. 6) under an “Enhanced Risk” (3 out of 5) potential for severe weather. The southern area remains under the “Slight Risk” (2 out 5) category for severe weather. The greatest threat will be between 6pm tonight through 2am early Saturday morning.
THREAT: Strong damaging winds, heavy rain (as much as 1 in. per hour), and a lower risk of Tornadoes may be possible.
IMPACTS: Damage to trees may lead to downed powerlines and power outages. Trees or limbs may fall across roads or into buildings. Loose articles may be blown around and cause damage. Localized flooding of low lying areas as well as ponding on road surfaces.
PREPAREDNESS ACTION: Secure loose objects outdoors. Be cautious when driving at night for trees or limbs across roads or excessive amounts of water on road surfaces. Monitor local news for weather updates and be prepared to take shelter should severe weather threaten.
