Senator Donato headshotState Senator Stacey Donato (R-Logansport) made the following statement Monday regarding the Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 2, which would hold K-12 schools harmless for the 2019 and 2020 test scores:

“In the months leading up to the 2020 legislative session, I spent a considerable amount of time touring schools and meeting with local leaders and community members about education policies that impact our community.” Donato said.

The Senator continued, “As was reported last fall, Hoosier students took the ILEARN assessment for the first time in 2019 and only 37% of students received a passing rating.”

Senator Donato closed her statement saying, “As a result, today I voted to pass Senate Bill 2, which would provide a two-year adjustment period for schools as they get used to the new test. A strong education system is important to the future of our state, and I am proud to support a bill that would allow the time needed to assure success for our future generations.”
