On Sunday afternoon, July 19th at 1:30, Officer Rans with the Marshall County Sheriff Department responded to a two vehicle accident in the 6800 block of State Road 17 and Deer Trail.
Driver one was identified as Ashley Buschman of Culver. She was traveling east of State Road 17 in a Chrysler Pacifica. She told Officer Rans she looked away briefly and was unable to avoid a collision with another east bound vehicle. When she looked back at the road she observed a Kia Sportage driven by Jeffery Johnson of Walkerton who was stopped in front of her waiting to turn north onto Deer Trail.
Buschman stated that she applied her brakes but was unable to avoid colliding with the Kia.
Jeffery Johnson and his passenger were transported to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Plymouth with neck and back pain.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS and Lyon’s Wrecker Service.
