Triton’s School Boards First Meeting of 2020

Triton logoOn Monday, January 13th ,The Triton School Board held their first meeting of 2020.

The first agenda item was to elect officers for the year. By unanimous vote, the board chose to retain the same officers that served in 2019. Officers include: Terri Barnhart, president; Kevin Miller, vice-president; and Steve Stichter, secretary.

Barnhart will also continue as president of the Board of Finance and Steve Stichter will continue as secretary.

The annual board salary was approved at $1, 850. It was noted that board members have the option to waive the salary and that many have done so in the past.

During a meeting in late 2019, the board had voted to use a 66 passenger bus that was in their fleet as a $5,500 trade-in towards purchasing a new bus. After further consideration, they reversed that approval and decided to keep the bus to accommodate their current busing needs.

Superintendent Jeremey riffle reported that the corporation has received a grant from the K-21 Foundation to be used towards repairing tennis courts.

As he has done in previous meetings, Riffle reminded those in attendance that the deadline for submitting proposal for the future use of the old gym is March13, 2020. He indicated that they have not received any proposals to date.
