PLYMOUTH – USAC non-wing sprint cars make their return to Plymouth Speedway Friday, June 26. Current series leader Justin Grant is looking to become the first two-time USAC winner at Plymouth. Grant picked up the win in April of 2017 and has won twice in 2020 after the series resumed racing in earlier in June.
At the beginning of the 2020 season, Brady Bacon grabbed two victories in Florida, he too would like to get a repeat victory here at the Plymouth Speedway. Currently third in the national points Bacon won the July 2018 feature at Plymouth Speedway. Other Plymouth winners include Tyler Courtney in 2019 and Kevin Thomas, Jr. in May of 2018.
It has been an odd year for the USAC racing, with only two races completed in February, both won by Bacon, the series was idle until June 6 and 7 with those two races won by Grant. Close behind Grant in championship points is Chris Windom by 15 points. Windom is leading the Prosource Passing Master with 45 passes this season across the top three USAC National divisions, Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown.
A couple of other national racers that do well at Plymouth are last years’ runner-up, C.J. Leary, and Chris Windom. Leary has been in all four A-mains and holds the USAC single lap record at Plymouth Speedway with a blistering 12.996 in 2018.
Windom is also a four-time starter at Plymouth with a runner-up finish in July 2018 and a front row start in 2019 before fading to a sixth-place finish.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with Hot Laps scheduled for 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. The USAC non-wing sprints will share the bill with the 600cc non-wing mini-sprints and the four cylinders.
