Monday evening during the Plymouth Common Council meeting, Jerry Chavez, President and CEO of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation said Zentis is planning a major expansion although it won’t require any new buildings or the purchase of additional property.

Chris Siebenhaar, Chief Senior Purchasing Manager with Zentis told the City Council that they are a premier producer of fruit prep for the dairy industry.  They make the fruit that goes into items such as yogurt and smoothie drinks.  He said the Greek Yogurt craze has tabled off and the company plans to expand their market with a new product that doesn’t go into a dairy product.  He was tight-lipped on the new product line.

Siebenhaar told the city council they have been in Plymouth for 13 years and have 225 full time employees.  The new product line will create 22 new jobs. When asked about a time frame for the project, the council was told it would be in production in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.

The Plymouth City Council unanimously approved the resolution declaring the area to be in an Economic Revitalization Area.  A public hearing on the Tax Abatement request for Zentis will be held during the next city council meeting on February 24th.

Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter told the council that Zentis paved the street, Shamrock Drive, back to their main entrance this fall. The city agreed to change the name of the street to Zentis Drive at their request.
