Last week the Marshall County Health Department asked the Indiana State Health Department Strike Team to come to the Marshall County Jail and test the inmates after there was a report of 39 positive cases of COVID-19. On Wednesday the team administered rapid tests to 169 inmates with 122 of them testing positive.
On Saturday, January 2nd, Marshall County Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger confirmed that the Health Department has been in contact with the jail staff and Sheriff Matt Hassel with recommendations on how to treat and slow the spread of the virus. Their recommendation include isolation, quarantine and treatment of the COVID positive inmates. They also recommended testing requirements for inmates and jail staff.
