January 18, 2021

TCU Bi-County 2021One of Indiana high school basketball’s great traditions for more than half a century, the TCU Bi-County Basketball Tournament opens Monday, Jan. 18, featuring eight teams on both the boys and girls sides. The champions will be crowned Saturday, Jan. 23 at LaVille Junior-Senior High School.

The 56th annual TCU Bi-County Tournament will conclude with the presentation of the W.B. Hawkins Award, named in honor of TCU’s President and CEO from 1962-87. A $1,000 scholarship will go to both a boys and girls player who exemplify excellence in academics and athletics, as well as making positive contributions to the community.

A World War II veteran who played minor league baseball, W.B. Hawkins embodied a spirit of service and drew on the lessons of athletics — work ethic, sportsmanship, leadership — in leading TCU’s extensive growth, while also expanding our community impact.

“The TCU Bi-County Tournament embodies the best of our communities, bringing together talented young people for a great competition,” said TCU President and CEO Paul Marsh. “It’s especially gratifying to recognize the recipients of the W.B. Hawkins Award. The scholarship support we provide through the Hawkins Award helps fulfill TCU’s mission to education and community service and we take great pride in honoring such inspiring young people.”
