On Monday the decision was made by Dr. Byron Holm MD the County Health Officer to discontinue the mask mandate for Marshall County and no longer extend the Public Health Emergency Declaration.
The State of Indiana and Marshall County still must adhere to Governor Holcomb’s Executive orders which require the wearing of masks.
Lisa Letsinger, Marshall County Public Health Nurse said the State and County continues to move in a downward trend as far as COVID-19 cases and positivity rates.
Marshall County’s current advisory level is yellow in the colored county metrics. The Advisory level refers to the current guidelines the county must follow. A county must remain at a lower Weekly Two-Metric Score for two consecutive weeks to move down to a lower advisory level.
The Marshall County Health Department still wants Marshall County residents to wear their mask, wash their hands and social distance. The county nurse said “Covid vaccine is being rolled out across the State and locally we have seen residents very receptive to getting vaccinated. We still have a long way to go to get herd immunity and a majority of our county residents vaccinated.”
MCHD would like to remind residents of Marshall County to stay the course. Letsinger said, “We are currently seeing improvement, but we can not let our guard down. Let’s keep doing the right things for our community!”
