The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department released the names of the officers involved in the officer shooting that occurred on December 31st, 2020.
The officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department who were involved: Patrolman Richard Prater who has 14 years with the department and Patrolman Blake Bennett who has been on the Sheriff’s Department 1 year and 10 months.
Both officers were temporarily placed on paid administrative leave immediately following the incident. They have returned to work while the Indiana State Police continues their independent investigation into the shooting.
Upon completion of that investigation, ISP will submit their findings to the Starke County Prosecutor for review.
