Dollar General logoIt looks like the City of Plymouth will be getting a brand new Dollar General store on the city’s east side.

During Tuesday’s Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals meeting, representatives of Zaremba Land Development from Lakewood Ohio presented plans to construct a stand-alone Dollar General store in the north west corner of the shopping center parking lot at Jefferson Street and Kingston Road.

Relocating the store into the parking lot area required several variances that the Plymouth BZA approved after some discussion.  The first variance was to reduce the number of required parking spaces from 39 down to 30 with the stipulation that they will be 10 feet wide.   They allow parking to be within the required front yard setback on Jefferson Street.  The BZA also approved reducing the front yard setback off Kingston Road from the required 30 feet to 10 feet and allowed areas adjacent to the parking lot to count towards the interior landscaping standards.

Dollar General East Jefferson 2-2-21The Board of Zoning Appeals did stipulate that the building must be split-face block front and back and on the west side along Kingston Road.  On the east side of the building, it would be split-face block up 4 feet and then metal the rest of the way up to the roofline.  On the south side near the dumpster, they also requested additional landscaping around the dumpster.

The Plymouth BZA unanimously approved the variance requests with Art Jacobs, Alan Selge, Mark Gidley and Fred Webster all voting in favor.

Zaremba Land Development will go before the Plymouth Plan Commission at their meeting on March 3rd at 7 p.m. to seek approval to split the lot off from the shopping center.
