Members of the Plymouth Park Board conducted their first meeting of the year on Monday and conducted the election of officers. The motion was made to keep the same slate and it passed unanimously. Dave Morrow will serve as President, Mike Kershner as Vice-President, and Laura Mann as Secretary
During the Superintendent’s Report, Mike Hite said Centennial Crossing, the residential complex across Plymouth Goshen Trail from the park donated extra dirt they have from the site. Hite said the Blueberry parking area immediately north of the “chicken coop” was lower and if there was rain it would flood. Al Collins from Construction Management Design (CMD) donated the dirt and has even trucked it and leveled it off. In the spring park employees will seed the dirt. Hite said it will “improve the area.”
In other business Mike Reese from the Troyer Group gave an update on the Greenway Trail extension from the covered bridge, past the Hoosier Old Wheels to Plymouth Goshen Trail, about a half-mile trail. and ultimately to Price’s Pond with a minor easement from Community Crossings. He said they filed an application with the Indiana DNR last summer to obtain funding which was awarded. Currently they are waiting on federal approval, anticipated in March, for the historical resources evaluation that was completed this past fall. Once received they can move forward with bids for construction.
Reese presented an agreement with the Troyer Group for the survey, design, construction documents and bidding process for the project at a cost of $52,600.
The Plymouth Park Board unanimously approved the contract.
