THURSDAY UPDATE: HEALTH DEPARTMENT UPDATES STATEWIDE COVID-19 CASE COUNTS

Hoosiers age 50 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

As of today, 1,061,173 first doses of vaccine have been administered in Indiana and 633,123 individuals are fully vaccinated.

Also on Thursday, the health department announced that 962 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 664,446 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

In Marshall County there were 8 new positive cases bringing our total to 5,439.  There were no new deaths reported and the county’s number remains at 105.  There were 56 individuals tested in the county bringing our overall total to 23,522.  The 7-day positivity rate for all tests was 2.1% while the 7-day positivity rate for unique individuals was 10.3%.  Marshall County remains “blue” on the map and has been blue for over a week.

A total of 12,231 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19,. Another 432 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

To date, 3,133,323 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana. A total of 8,133,596 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.
