Here is the latest update from the National Weather Service in North Webster regarding the Winter Weather system that will be moving in to the area this afternoon and into Tuesday.
UPDATE:
- Snow totals have been reduced for all but the far northwestern forecast area. Accumulations of 1-2 inches are expected for Marshall County.
- Precipitation will begin as snow and should start around 5:00pm this afternoon.
- The snow will quickly change over to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain and drizzle.
- Ice accumulation amounts for Marshall County may be under the original .10 of an inch previously forecast.
Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters and I have discussed putting an “Advisory” level travel advisory in place this afternoon just as a precaution to make everyone aware that road conditions will be hazardous especially later tonight and into the day tomorrow. The “Advisory” level is the lowest level of local travel advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation. Individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Jason will monitor conditions as the storm progresses and let me know if we would need to speak with the commissioners about increasing the travel advisory restrictions.
IMPACTS: Remain the same as previous reports – Slick and hazardous driving conditions. Sidewalks will be snow and ice covered, and could increase the number of slips, trips, and falls.

Local businesses and schools should review their emergency plans and implement them as needed. If you must go out, give yourself extra time to teach your destination. Reduce your speed and increase your following distance.
