winter-weather-advisoryThe National Weather Service in North Webster has extended the Winter Weather Advisory for Marshall County until 1:00am Saturday, January 2nd.

The freezing rain event has caused ice to build up on trees which has resulted in numerous power outages throughout the county.  In addition, roads are covered with slush, ice, and ponding of water is occurring on road surfaces making driving conditions hazardous. Low hanging branches or limbs that have snapped off may cause additional hazards.

Because of the current conditions the Marshall County Commissioners have implemented an “Advisory’ level travel advisory for the unincorporated roads in the county.  An “Advisory” level travel advisory is the lowest level of local travel advisory and simply means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in aeras because of a hazardous situation. Citizens should use caution or avoid these areas.
