Sophomore forward Joby Renbarger headlined a list of postseason award winners for the Ancilla College men’s basketball team at the team’s recently held awards banquet.

Renbarger, who is ranked 16th nationally in field goal percentage and 24th nationally in rebounds, was recognized as the team’s most valuable player and earned honors for the team’s highest grade point average. He also was named 3rd Team All-MCCAA Western Conference and named a member of the Capital One All-District All-Academic Team.

“Joby’s effort level and competitiveness fueled our team,” said head coach Greg Neeley. “Even more, he is a total student-athlete with the great job he has done in the classroom.”

Ancilla’s other two sophomores also earned recognition.  Josh Wilson received the Coach’s Award, and Ben Gilbert received the Teammate Award as voted on by his peers.

“It is great to see our three sophomores recognized,” added Neeley. “They epitomize what being a student-athlete at Ancilla is all about, and we’re proud of what they have accomplished.”

As a team, the Chargers achieved their second best season since 2004 and qualified for the District Tournament. Ancilla started the season with a school record five straight wins and finished the season with a five win improvement over a year ago.
