May 19, 2013

05/20/13 Thursday afternoon about 1:20 emergency crews responded to the intersection of 11th Road and Olive Trail for a two vehicle crash with injury.  Indiana State Police Trooper Mike Gruett was the investigating officer.

75 year old Suzanne Orth of Saint John, IN was traveling east on 11th Road in a 2005 Pontiac and failed to stop at the stop sign.  She pulled out into the path of a 2012 Ford Expedition driven by Bonnie Quinto of Walkerton.

Both vehicles received extensive damage and had to be towed by Lyons Wrecker Service.

Orth was transported to Saint Joe Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for minor injuries.  It was also determined that she suffered from dementia and thought she was just a few miles from home.  Because of her medical condition she was cited for Operating While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol over the legal limit and disregarding a stop sign.    A case report will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for consideration.

Quinto and the children in her vehicle were not injured in the crash.
