1st Friday in Goshen, Fire & Ice

 01/04/13  Downtown Goshen will be celebrating their 6th Annual Fire and Ice Festival taking place in the downtown area this Friday and Saturday.   The event offers a full assortment of wintertime icy-hot excitement including an 8-foot Fire and Ice Tower Bonfire. This two day festival in Goshen offers a full schedule of events including single, double and triple block sculpting, fire dancers, a chili competition with downtown restaurants, and judged ice competitions with cash prizes.

Friday highlights will be Ice Sculpture carving from 5-9 PM where members of the Michiana Ice Carvers Association will carve 300 pound blocks of ice in front of downtown stores. The Fire Dancers- Pyrotation Nation will perform from 5-8 PM displaying all sorts of fire spinning styles throughout the downtown area and at 7 PM the dancers will come together for a group performance on East Washington Street.

Downtown Goshen will light up the night with a 16 block ice tower surrounding a giant bonfire that will be lit at 7 PM and should burn for several hours as the ice slowly melts. Kids can look forward to Free Marshmallow Roasting from 5-9 PM on East Washington Street.

On Saturday from 10-1 PM they will hold an Ice Carving Competition as well as a Chili Fire Competition from 11 AM – 1 PM.  Free tickets will be available to the first 250 people at the Goshen Theater.
