“Project Lead the Way” at PHS Receives 3M Grant

December 10, 2012

12/11/12 Last week representatives from the Plymouth 3M plant came to the high school so students in “”Project Lead the Way” and their teachers could thank them for the $25,000 grant they received.

PHS Principal Jim Condon explained that “Project Lead the Way” a pre-engineering and engineering technology program is in its third year at the school.   He said, “It’s a great program but very costly.”  The first two years of the program were paid through a grant from the State of Indiana.  The grant from 3M will help fund the third year of Project Lead the Way.

During the press conference PLtW teacher, Ken Robinson explained the Digital Electronic class the students are taking this year. Invited guests were invited to the Lead the Way classroom which is not your typical classroom.

Andrea Hall, HR Supervisor for 3M and member of the Community Relations Group said, “It’s great to know that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning is happening here at Plymouth High School.  This program will take you into your future careers.”  She continued by noting that 3M supports projects such as Project Lead the Way to encourage student to study engineering.
