Commissioners Approve $11,500 in Change Orders for 7th Road Project

County News_logoThe Marshall County Commissioners were updated on the 7th Road project during their meeting Monday.

Bart Trester Project Supervisor from USI said the concrete work on the round-a-bout is completed including the curb and apron areas.  He said, “Construction operations are on hold until INDOT and Phend & Brown has settled their HMA (hot mix asphalt) issues.”  The two met last week with no resolution and will meet again this Wednesday.

Commissioners-7th Road concreteTrester presented three changes orders for the commissioners to approve.   Change order #9 was for the mobilization to get the asphalt placed at the round-a-bout as requested by the commissioners for winter traffic flow at a cost of $4,769.45.  Change order #10 was for colored concrete instead of a sprinkle-on color form at an additional cost of $3,476.77 and the final change order #11 was for terminal ends for field tiles, additional signage for directing drivers and slope drains to prevent erosion for $3,334.56.

The commissioners approved all three change orders for a total addition of $11,580.78.

The 7th Road mitigation project has been seeded and the contractor will install the log weir within the next two weeks completing the wetland.  Seedling plantings in the mitigation site will take place this fall.
