02/14/11 Thursday evening at 6:51 the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a report of an accidental shooting at 14384 Nataka Trail. The victim of the shooting, 18 year old Tyler Mattix was transported to the Plymouth Airport by the Plymouth Paramedics and then air-lifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
Tyler Mattix died Friday morning from the injuries sustained in the accident.
The police report indicates that Mattix was accidentally shot by his uncle, Adam Stewart who was handling the weapon at the time it discharged.
Both individuals lived at the Nataka Trail residence.
The investigation is continuing and a report will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s office for review, as is standard for this type of investigation.
