Argos Girl to Perform in CATS

July 13, 2011

07/14/11 The South Bend Community School Corporation’s Summerfly Productions proudly presents its 2011 Summer Musical, CATS. Having just recently been released for amateur production, they are excited to bring this very popular Andrew Lloyd Webber musical to the Michiana community. The cast is made up of highly talented students from a wide range of Michiana high schools, including those from private and parochial schools. A few younger felines will also be part of the show. The students rehearse five hours a day, five days a week to prepare for the final production. For students and staff alike, it is a labor of love!

Alex Jeffirs from Argos a junior high student has a part in the chorus and had worked extremely hard on this performance.   She would love for friends and family and musical lovers to attend one of the performances.

CATS is based on a collection of whimsical poems titled “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, published in 1939 by T.S. Eliot. It was the least favorite of Eliot’s works until Webber’s musical opened in London in 1981, popularizing this humorous little book through the immense worldwide success of the stage production. If you like cats or Broadway musicals, you will love this production of CATS!

CATS will take place in the Clay High School Performing Arts Center on July 14, 15, and 16 at 7:00pm and at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon, July 16. Doors open at 6:30pm. Seating is open.
