Argos Man Admitts to Battery on 21 Month-old

02/01/11 Detective Leo Mangus with the Plymouth Police Department is investigating a reported case of possible child abuse.

On Wednesday, January 26th at 3:14 p.m. the Plymouth Police Department received a report regarding possible child abuse to a 21 month old baby that had suspicious injuries.  The victim was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth and transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital where it was treated and released. 

The police investigation determined that 21 year old Alexander Wagers of Argos had been watching the child at the time the victim received these injuries.  Mr. Wagers had left the residence in the 1100 block of Lincolnway East after the grandmother had returned home.  At that time the child was asleep.

Police attempted to locate Alexander Wages on Wednesday, January 26th, but he was not located.  On the morning of Thursday, January 27th Mr. Wagers came to the Plymouth Police Department and admitted that he had battered the 21 month old victim.  He was booked into the Marshall County Jail with a charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a victim under the age of 14 years as a Class D Felony and neglect of a dependent with bodily injury a Class C Felony. 

Alexander Wagers is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.  He remains in the County Jail at this time.
