Starke County Teen Injured After Falling Out of Truck Bed

  04/09/13 On Thursday, April 4th at approximately 3:00 P.M. the Starke County 911 Center received a call of a person who had fallen out of a bed of a pick-up truck and was lying in the middle of the roadway.  Officers with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS and North Judson Fire Department responded to the accident.  Arriving at the scene 18 year old, Amber Johnston-Letts was treated at the scene and transported to I.U. Health Starke Hospital and then air lifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for her injuries.

An investigation was conducted by the Starke County Sheriff’s Deputies.  That investigation led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, 22 year old Dale L. Quaife.  Quaife was arrested for Reckless Driving a class A misdemeanor.  It is not believed that drugs and alcohol were a cause in the incident although a blood test was sent to the State Lab for processing.

It was notified that Amber Johnston-Letts was treated at Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and later released.
