Ancilla Student Government attends National Conference

  10/09/13 Ancilla’s Student Government Association President, Vice-President, and Faculty advisor attended the 35th annual National Leadership Conference on Student Government in St. Louis, MO from October 3-6.

   Amanda Amstutz, Student Body President, Desiree Narkawicz, Student Body Vice-President, and Jill Neidlinger, Faculty advisor spent four days interacting with students and Faculty from around the country.

“This was an amazing experience for the Ancilla College SGA board members. I am so proud of how enthusiastically they approached this conference and ‘soaked up’ all of the energy from the other devoted Student Government members. I received many compliments on how professional Amanda and Desiree were as well as how their questions were both challenging and thought-provoking. They definitely contributed in a positive way to the event,“said Jill Neidlinger, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Developmental Studies and SGA advisor at Ancilla College. 

The students attended a number of presentations and workshops relating to the conference theme “Ingredients for an Effective Student Government” as organized by Dr. Pat Bosco, Director of the Center for Leadership Development Inc. 

Their favorite speakers included Dr. Bernard Franklin,Associate Vice Chancellor of the Metropolitan Community College System, and Ms. Terri Houston, Interim Chief Diversity Officer at University of North Carolina.

Amstutz commented, “I learned a lot from the conference overall, and was inspired to be around so many student leaders as well as such qualified speakers. Overall, it was a great experience.
